Dubai, UAE · FMCGBuilding a Cleaner Odoo Environment & Modernizing Field Sales Operations
Nellara Food Products is a Dubai-based food products company with more than 40 years of experience in traditional Indian spices and raw materials.
With operations across Edappal, Bangalore, Bahrain, and the UAE, and a field sales team of approximately 40–50 personnel, Nellara manages a distributed sales operation involving customers, inventory, payments, routes, and field activities.
As its operations evolved, Nellara needed a more reliable ERP foundation and better-connected tools for managing its field sales processes.
Nellara partnered with ODOX to simplify its legacy ERP environment, build a new Odoo foundation, and modernize its field sales operations.
A legacy system carrying years of complexity
Nellara's existing Odoo 8 environment had accumulated years of business data, customizations, and evolving requirements. Over time, this created technical and operational challenges.
Rather than carrying the complexity of the legacy Odoo 8 environment into a newer system, Nellara needed a cleaner foundation built around its actual business requirements.
- Identifying critical business data
- Reviewing existing customizations
- Retaining essential functionality
- Removing unnecessary legacy complexity
- Building a new Odoo 16 environment
- Improving field-sales operations
- Connecting sales, stock, payments, and field activities
This approach allowed Nellara to move forward with a more structured ERP environment without simply recreating the limitations of the old system.
A New Odoo Environment Built Around Nellara's Business
ODOX analyzed Nellara's existing Odoo 8 environment, business workflows, data, and customizations to determine what was essential for the new system.
Based on this analysis, ODOX built a new Odoo 16 environment, bringing forward only the important data and required functionality.
The solution was then expanded with dedicated applications and backend services to support Nellara's field-sales and delivery operations.
As the business continued to evolve, the ERP environment was further modernized to Odoo 19 Community, with ODOX continuing to support new requirements and improvements.
Sales, stock and payments working as one system
Real-Time Stock Synchronization
ODOX addressed the disconnect between field sales transactions and inventory updates by implementing a more reliable synchronization process.
Sales activity is connected directly with stock movements, helping provide more accurate visibility into available inventory — a stronger foundation for reporting, analytics, and inventory control.
Field Payment Collection & Reconciliation
The mobile application enables sales personnel to collect payments directly from customers in the field, with multi-mode and grouped payment allocation across pending invoices and customer accounts.
At the end of the day, supervisors verify and tally salesperson transactions before authorizing daily checkout — better traceability across collections, credit, returns, and outstanding payments.
Van Stock Management
The solution provides field teams with better visibility into the stock carried in their vehicles, so movements are tracked systematically from vehicle loading through sales and returns.
Daily Field Reporting
To give supervisors a consolidated view of daily field activities, the system generates a Daily Field Report (DFR) in PDF format.
The report brings together key information such as:
This gives supervisors a structured overview of each salesperson's working day.
ODOX also developed a dedicated web portal to help supervisors manage field operations from a centralized platform.
- Journey and route scheduling
- Salesperson management
- Payment verification
- Payment approval
- Reporting
- Field activity monitoring
Supervisors gain a centralized view of daily sales operations, payments, routes, and field activities.
The solution combines Odoo with dedicated applications and backend services.
By decoupling key field-sales and delivery components from the core ERP, the architecture provides greater flexibility for maintaining specialized operational features and introducing future improvements.
A more connected and structured environment
The transformation helped Nellara establish a more connected and structured environment for its sales and field operations.
Nellara's transformation with ODOX is an ongoing journey of simplifying systems, improving processes, and adapting technology to changing business requirements.
From analyzing its legacy Odoo 8 environment and building a new Odoo 16 foundation, to further modernizing the ERP to Odoo 19 Community and developing specialized field-sales solutions, ODOX continues to support Nellara's evolving operations.
Today, the partnership continues through ongoing support, development, and implementation of new business requirements.
